Full Time Realtor: 3 Month Check-In
It has been a couple months now since I have become a full time realtor and it has been like a roller coaster ride to say the least! There have been some highs and definitely low moments. I was fortunate enough to have family members who were actively looking to purchase a home, so I was able to start showing them properties rather quickly. This has been the most exciting part so far. I love being able to drive around, discover new neighborhoods and seeing many different beautiful homes.
After about a month of searching, I put in an offer on a home for a client. I was very excited that I was going to open my first escrow, but I quickly realized that I should not get my hopes up too soon… About a week after we opened escrow, my clients decided they wanted to cancel the deal. When we checked the house out for a second time, they found a lot of issues with it and didn’t want to move forward anymore. So within two weeks, I went from feeling super happy I was going to close my first deal, to a canceled escrow and back to square one of finding my clients a new home. Looking back now, it wasn't a big deal. It happens more than I thought, but I’m glad I was able to gain some experience from that situation and learn from it. Although it was a little bit frustrating, I understood their situation. Buying a home is a big commitment and they have to right to say ‘No’ to a home they don’t feel comfortable spending all this money on.
I’ve realized that in this profession, with each client, it can take weeks or months before you can help them close a deal. It takes time to build a relationship and trust with them. It has been an adjustment for me since with my previous job, I was use to finding solutions for any issue right away to complete the task at hand. Like I’ve said before, this is all a work in progress. I’m just happy I get to do what I love now and I get to help others find their dream home.
