Quitting my job to pursue real estate full time!
It is always scary when you have to get out of your comfort zone. When I started my real estate journey in June, I had no intentions of making it my new career. For the past 3 1/2 years, I was working full-time for a property management company and I slowly came to realization in the midst of the pandemic that this career path was just not for me.
Before I left the company completely in August, I stayed as part time for the last 4-5 months. During this time, an opportunity came up for me to start working in real estate. Since I already had my real estate license, I jumped at the opportunity without hesitation. At that point, I wanted to try something new and I always had an interest for real estate, so why not? Prior to this opportunity, I already planned on leaving my full time job to go back to school to get my second degree in accounting. But of course nothing in life ever usually goes as planned (hello, look at 2020 for example!).
Going into real estate, I did not know what to expect, but let me tell you… after the first couple of weeks, I realized it was a lot harder than it looks and took a lot more time than I had anticipated. On the other hand, within the first week, I knew that this is where I belong; real estate was going to be my new career. I have never been this excited to wake up and get to work everyday. As Confucius once said, “Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life” and I’m more than happy I have found that with real estate. As difficult as it was for me to leave my property management job, I knew in my heart this was the right career change.
So, moral of the story is, it is true when people say sometimes the best things happen when you least expect it and when opportunities come your way, you just gotta take the leap of faith, step out of your comfort zone and do it. Sometimes it might not work out, but at least you can say you have tried it and will never wonder ‘what if’.
As I embark on this new career path, I want to open up and share my stories, things I have learned, mistakes I have made and much more real estate fun stuff!
Thank you for taking the time out of your day to read a little bit about me and my real estate journey. Until next time!
